PROSPECTUS 'RELIGIOUS EDUCATION AND SEX EDUCATION'
Religious Education
The school is a non-denominational school. We teach the agreed syllabus for RE differentiated to make lessons accessible for our pupils.
Very often these lessons will be multi-sensory in nature. Parents who wish to withdraw their child from RE lessons or assemblies which are broadly of a Christian nature will need to inform the Head teacher.
Sex Education
The school has an agreed programme of sex education that is part of the broader personal, social and health education programmes of study The school would see sex education in its widest sense to include an awareness of self and the care of and for others. Where more sensitive issues often associated with the onset of adolescence need to be tackled parents are involved and consulted and regular communication between home and school ensures pupils will be adequately supported during that time. This is very often an area of concern for parents as pupils mature. Parents with concerns or who would wish to withdraw their child from these lessons are encouraged to discuss this with school.
