Prospectus "Purpose"
The purpose of Redbridge High School is to further the education of children and young adults with severe learning difficulties
To provide a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum which prepares each student for adult life. This will include:
- The 'Access' Curriculum; a developmental curriculum for pupils with severe learning difficulties;
- Access to the National Curriculum for 11 to 16 year old pupils;
- A range of Further Education opportunities for 16 to 19 year olds including college and community placements, work experience and access to appropriate, nationally recognised qualifications;
- Access to a specialised curriculum catering for the needs of pupils with Autism;
- To provide a quality curriculum that educates, challenges and motivates;
- To provide a happy and positive learning environment promoting mutual respect, dignity and consideration for others.
- To be seen as a valued and contributing part of the community and for others to recognise and respect our students abilities and achievements.
- To empower our students to take as much responsibility for themselves as possible and to achieve the maximum level of independent living.
- To develop positive relationships with parents promoting education as a partnership between home and school.
- To seek opportunities to expand inclusion links with mainstream schools.
- To ensure that students leaving Redbridge have a well planned and supported transition into their adult placements.
