Introduction.
These web pages provides information for parents of children with severe learning difficulties who may be considering placement at Redbridge High School. It is updated regularly and also distributed to parents of present pupils.
Redbridge High School caters for pupils with severe learning difficulties aged between 11 and 19 years. There are presently 86 pupils on roll.
The purpose built school was opened in June 1976 and is set in generous grounds providing safe hard surfaces and grassed play areas.
The school is divided into four areas: Base 1, Base 2, Base 3 and the Further Education Unit.
Base 1 caters for students with profound and multiple learning difficulties.
Bases 2, 3 and F.E. are grouped according to age and all classes are mixed ability.
There is an average of 8 pupils per class with a teacher and classroom assistant, although staff ratios vary according to need and are reviewed regularly.
